When to convert PNG to JPG
Convert when the image is a photo, scan or screenshot going into an email, form or document — JPG is dramatically smaller. Keep PNG when you need transparency or razor-sharp text and line art. Transparent areas become white in the JPG, since JPG has no transparency.

What happens to transparent backgrounds?
JPG doesn't support transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with white. If you need the transparency kept, use the converter with WebP output instead.
How much smaller will my file get?
Photos and screenshots typically shrink 70–90% at the default 85% quality. Simple graphics with few colors shrink less — those are what PNG is good at.
