Convert JPG to WebP without uploading it
JPG is the universal photo format that every device, website and printer accepts. WebP is the modern web format that is 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG and PNG. Drop your files and get WebP copies in seconds, decoded and encoded on your own device.
Why convert JPG to WebP? Because it opens everywhere and keeps photos small, while websites love it, but many desktop apps, printers and older phones still reject it. The conversion happens in your browser: the JPG is decoded to pixels and those pixels are written out as WebP. The default quality of 92 percent is visually identical to the original for photos.
At the same visual quality WebP is typically 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG, which is why websites prefer it. The encoder ships with the site, so it works in Safari too.
How to convert JPG to WebP
- Drop the JPG files. As many as you like. They are read straight from your disk, so there is no upload wait.
- WebP is preselected. Adjust the quality slider if you want an even smaller file.
- Download. Grab each file, or all of them as a zip.
Why use myownpic for this
Nothing is uploaded
Photos are read from your disk and processed by your browser. There is no server, so ID scans, family pictures and work files never travel anywhere.
Faster than any upload
A 10 MB photo compresses in about a second. No queue, no upload bar, no download round trip, and it keeps working offline.
Whole batches, one zip
Drop a folder, not a file. Every tool works on many images at once and hands you a zip.
No watermark, no account
Free with no sign-up, no daily quota, no resolution cap and no logo stamped on your pictures.
Questions people ask
Does converting JPG to WebP lose quality?
A tiny amount, as with any JPG or WebP save. At the default 92 percent quality the difference is invisible for photos. Convert to PNG instead if you need a lossless copy.
Can I convert many files at once?
Yes. Drop a whole folder. Three files are processed at a time and the Download all button gives you a zip.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The page is a static website and the conversion runs inside your browser. Close the tab and nothing remains anywhere.
